This bill, if approved in a statewide referendum, will fundamentally alter the current ad valorem tax exemption for buildings of non profit charitable institutions. Presently, the law requires the building be used exclusively for charitable purposes. The bill eliminates that requirement entirely. In addition, it allows the building to be used for the primary or incidental purpose of securing income.
